What is field rescue, and when do I need it?

If you are injured or become ill in a remote area or backcountry trail where local emergency services cannot reach you, field rescue is the active deployment of personnel to stabilise and extract you to the nearest capable hospital. Global Rescue pioneered this service, and it is vital for any traveller venturing away from major urban infrastructure.

Does Global Rescue place restrictions on my activities?

No. Global Rescue does not limit benefits based on your activities, country of residence, or distance-from-home mileage thresholds. You are covered anywhere in the world except for active U.S. State Department war zones and extreme polar travel above the 80th Parallel North or below the 60th Parallel South.

What if I am trekking at high altitudes?

If your custom itinerary involves traveling above 15,000 feet (4,600 meters) at any point, excluding commercial airplane flights, you can add the High-Altitude Evacuation Package. It ensures that your medical transport and field rescue services remain fully active during high-altitude climbs and mountain expeditions.

How do I contact Global Rescue during a trip?

You call one direct number: +1 617-459-4200. We recommend programming this number into your cell or satellite phone before departure. You can also reach the operations centre instantly using the messaging features inside the My Global Rescue mobile app, available on the App Store and Google Play.

If an incident occurs, should I arrange my own evacuation?

No. You or a member of your team must contact Global Rescue at the time of the incident so their operations team can organise and perform the rescue from start to finish. Because they deploy their own specialised networks, Global Rescue cannot reimburse you for evacuations you arrange independently.

Are there any age limitations on these services?

Members aged 85 and older can fully utilise Global Rescue’s advisory, security, and non-emergency services. However, medical transport is not automatically included in memberships for individuals aged 85+. It is available on a fee-for-service basis.
