Best Time to Travel: Spring (March–May) & Autumn (September–November)

Syria contains a higher density of UNESCO-listed heritage than almost any region in the Levant. It is a country where you can walk through the 5,000-year-old streets of Damascus and explore Krak des Chevaliers, the world’s most intact Crusader fortress. From the Roman colonnades of Palmyra and the limestone Dead Cities to the Aramaic-speaking mountain villages of Maaloula and the sprawling citadel of Aleppo, Syria offers an unfiltered look at the rise and fall of global empires.
Discover Syria
Entering through the Roman Gate of Bab Sharqi, the Old City is centred on the 8th-century Umayyad Mosque, which houses a shrine to John the Baptist. Its Straight Street (Via Recta), mentioned in the Bible, remains a 1,500-metre commercial axis where Damascene steel and silk brocade are still traded in timber-roofed shops built over Roman foundations.
Rising atop a 50-metre-high glacial tell, the Aleppo Citadel is a medieval fortress featuring a massive mamluk-era throne hall and a 12th-century defensive bridge. Below it, the Al-Madina Souq—the world’s longest covered market—has seen the restoration of the Khan al-Gumruk, where merchants have traded textiles and laurel soap since the 16th century.

Let’s do it! Perhaps you already know what you want to see and do, perhaps you don’t. Either way, we’ll create the best Syria tour for you.
Continue your journey with more carefully curated destinations, each offering its own unique experiences, culture, and unforgettable moments.
In the steep cliffs of the Qalamoun range, Maaloula remains a linguistic enclave where residents speak Western Neo-Aramaic. The Monastery of St. Sergius (Mar Sarkis) contains one of the world’s oldest surviving altars, designed with a pre-Christian drainage rim, while the narrow gorge of St. Thecla leads to a rock-cut shrine that has been a site of pilgrimage since the 4th century.
