Best Time to Travel: Spring (April–June) & Autumn (September–October)

Kosovo is Europe’s youngest country and one of its least explored. Within short distances, travellers can move from Ottoman bazaars to UNESCO-listed Orthodox monasteries, mountain valley villages, and post-war cities. Explore Prizren’s riverside mosques, hike in the Accursed Mountains, and see frescoes in the 14th-century monasteries of Decani and Gracanica.
Discover Kosovo
Set beside the Bistrica River, Prizren preserves cobbled streets, stone bridges, and architecture spanning the Ottoman and Yugoslav periods. Highlights include the 17th-century Sinan Pasha Mosque, the Orthodox Church of Our Lady of Ljevis (1310), and the hilltop Prizren Fortress overlooking the city.
West of Peja, the Rugova Canyon cuts deep into the Prokletije range, part of the Dinaric Alps. Trails lead to alpine lakes and border routes shared with Montenegro and Albania. Guesthouses in the valley serve up home-cooked food with mountain hospitality.
Kosovo’s capital combines Ottoman, socialist, and contemporary architecture. Key sites include the National Library with its metal-mesh domes, the Ethnological Museum in an 18th-century house, and the pedestrian Mother Teresa Boulevard lined with cafes and bookshops.
